Practical guides you can actually use
Short answers to the questions our members ask most. Tap a topic to read it. For the exact current requirements, always confirm with the official institution linked in Access to Information below.
Getting your produce ready for export Agribusiness
Export buyers care about consistency: the same quality, size and packaging in every batch. Start by talking to other farmers or a cooperative near you about aggregating your harvest, since buyers usually need volumes a single small farm cannot supply alone. The National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) sets the current requirements and certification steps for exporting Rwandan agricultural products. Talk to our team first and we will help you understand what applies to your specific crop before you approach them.
Starting or strengthening a cooperative Agribusiness
A well run cooperative gives small farmers real bargaining power: shared transport, shared storage, and one voice at the negotiating table. Cooperatives are formed and officially recognized through the Rwanda Cooperatives Agency (RCA). If you already farm alongside others informally, we can help you understand the steps to formalize and the basic governance a healthy cooperative needs.
Basics of adding value to what you grow Agribusiness
Selling raw produce usually earns less than selling it processed, for example dried fruit instead of fresh fruit, or packaged flour instead of raw grain. Before investing in processing equipment, it helps to understand the food safety and quality standards that apply, which are set by the Rwanda Standards Board and the Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority. Talk to our team about which standards matter for your specific product.
Formalizing your creative business Creative Industry
Many creative entrepreneurs sell for years before registering formally, and it usually costs them opportunities: banks, serious buyers and exhibition organizers tend to prefer working with a registered business. Business registration and a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) are handled through the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and the Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA). We can walk you through what to expect and answer your questions before you go.
Protecting your work: the basics of intellectual property Creative Industry
If you design, write, compose or create original work, you may be able to protect it through copyright or trademark registration, which makes it harder for others to copy your brand or your designs without permission. Intellectual property registration in Rwanda is handled through RDB. It is worth understanding this early, especially before you exhibit your work publicly or start selling under a brand name.
Getting ready for your first exhibition Creative Industry
An exhibition is often the first time buyers see your work in person, so preparation matters more than most people expect: a clear price list, business cards, a short pitch you can say comfortably, and enough stock to actually sell. RYCP organizes exhibitions and prepares members beforehand. Ask us about our next exhibition and how we help members get ready.
